Nemours is seeking a Database Administrator to join our Nemours Children's Health team in either Jacksonville, Florida, Orlando, Florida or Wilmington, Delaware.
Job Requirements
The Database Administrator is responsible for protecting enterprise data. Day to day functions include the management, installation, deployment, monitoring and ongoing support of enterprise databases for both business and clinical systems at Nemours. This position leads efforts in resolving complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. The position may also participate in researching and evaluating new technology products or may suggest changes or enhancements to existing products as required to support the business. Additionally, this position requires solid customer service skills to support and assist end users.
- Protects enterprise database assets. This includes implementing and monitoring effective database backup and recovery methodologies and processes.
- Assists principal lead database administrators roles for projects as designated by supervisor which may include: analyzing user needs and creating proper database design to meet those needs; installing and configuring new database environments and upgrading existing database environments.
- Responsible for daily support for existing database solutions, including modifying, testing, validating, and documenting system changes. Adheres to normal change control processes for these activities.
- Oversees and participates in day-to-day system administration including performance tuning, system monitoring, problem investigation, and optimization. Serves as an escalation point for other team members.
- Proactively identifies process and procedural issues and suggests potential solutions and engages teammates or other teams as required.
- Assists in the architecting, developing and maintaining of database environment documentation.
- Participated in technical evaluations of new technology products or suggest changes/enhancements to existing products/environments to fulfill customer needs. Assists in the development of budgetary requests for these items.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both technical and professional capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate preferred.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate for SQL Server (MCSA) preferred.
