Position Summary
RSekure is seeking a mid to senior level Database Administrator in the Chantilly, VA area to work with our customer's technical team. An ideal candidate must possess demonstrated experience providing database tuning, integration, operations and maintenance support to the clients evolving Linux/AWS environment. This position requires demonstrated experience with PostgreSQL, DevOps concepts, Linux, Python, and Shell Scripting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work in close collaboration with a group of Cloud Engineers and Infrastructure Administrators.
- Use experience to migrate Oracle databases to PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL or RDS instances to traditional and non-traditional platforms.
- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding data integrity.
- Diagnose, isolate and expediently resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure.
- Develop methods of ensuring that data incompatibilities among systems are systematically eliminated.
- Develop and recommend data management policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent data management operations.
- Travel not required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills
- Strong experience in SQL, PL/SQL, Linux/Unix scripting.
- Demonstrated experience/knowledge with Amazon Web Services technologies to include EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFormation.
- Demonstrated experience/knowledge working in a DevOps environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in database administration or related positions.
Desired Certifications and Licenses
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) highly desired.
- Other relevant cyber certifications (CompTIA Sec+, Net+, etc.) are a bonus.
Special Requirements
- TS/SCI clearance with a full-scope polygraph.
Work Environment
Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.
Physical Demands
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
