Job Summary:
*Internal Applicants Only* The DBA (Database Administration) Manager is primarily responsible for the support of all Relational Databases and strategic needs through centrally administered software systems. The position requires a broad application of principles, theories and concepts of enterprise software and a working knowledge of related fields. The DBA Manager oversees the work of the DBA team in the operations and deployment of services.

Job Summary:
*Internal Applicants Only* The DBA (Database Administration) Manager is primarily responsible for the support of all Relational Databases and strategic needs through centrally administered software systems. The position requires a broad application of principles, theories and concepts of enterprise software and a working knowledge of related fields. The DBA Manager oversees the work of the DBA team in the operations and deployment of services.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the staff responsible for supporting enterprise systems and 3rd party applications databases. Establish and prioritize the workload for staff members. Staff development & training.
- Promoting and ensuring compliance with professional standards, industry standards for technology, regulation requirements and University of Massachusetts policies and procedures.
- Assessing the technical ramifications of requested projects and system changes.
- Recommending improvements to existing systems and/or manual procedures.
- Maintaining on-going contact with broad range of University executives, departments and users as well as serving as technical advisor to UITS staff and users in assigned areas of responsibility or special expertise.
- Interacting with UITS managers in other areas to coordinate area activities and ensure up-to date information is communicated.
- Subject matter expertise in one or more Database Software packages.
- Act as Project Manager for internal projects as required.
- Establish and maintain solid relationships with University governance groups.
- Develop business cases for enhancements and regulatory requirements.
- Closely collaborate with developers and technical teams.
- Responsible for daily operations.
Other Functions:
- Work closely with the user communities to establish priorities and coordinate deployments.
- Mentor junior or new staff members on development best practices in general.
- Ensure product quality standards and best practices are met.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science of Information Systems Management or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible project management, information management, and/or systems analysis and design experience in an integrated multi-vendor environment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience in presentation to diverse audiences up to the executive level.
- Strong communications skills.
- Solid interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with people of all levels in both technical and campus settings
- Expertise and comfort in varied organizational relationships.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a large complex environment.
- Exceptional skills in providing quality customer service to multiple organizations within the enterprise.
- Higher Education experience a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Typical office environment.
Additional Details:
Salary commensurate with experience up to $157,000.
