About the Job
We are seeking an accomplished independent contractor to collaborate with our team in the strategic deployment of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI as the cornerstone of our business analytics platform. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in leveraging Microsoft Fabric and Power BI to design and deliver advanced business intelligence (BI) solutions. This role entails a blend of technical expertise and business acumen, as you will be responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive data-informed decision-making across the organization. You will work in close partnership with cross-functional teams to architect, develop, and implement robust data models and interactive dashboards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with business stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of data requirements, and translate these into sophisticated technical data models that align with the organization s strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrate mastery of Microsoft Fabric components, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI, and associated data processing tools, ensuring seamless integration and efficient data flows.
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using best practices in dimensional modeling, star schemas, and other advanced modeling techniques to optimize data retrieval and performance within Microsoft Fabric.
- Architect and implement data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to efficiently extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into the Microsoft Fabric data lake, ensuring data integrity, quality, and consistency.
- Employ advanced query optimization techniques and refine data models for optimal performance across various workloads within Fabric, including Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Spark.
- Enforce data quality standards and security protocols to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance within the Fabric ecosystem.
- Provide mentorship and training to internal teams, fostering the adoption of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI while promoting best practices in BI solution development.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, implementation guides, and architectural specifications to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure project continuity.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Fabric components, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Spark, and associated data integration and ETL processes.
- Expertise in Power BI development, including advanced use of Power Query for the creation of highly interactive dashboards and dynamic data visualizations.
- Proficiency in DAX, SQL, and advanced data modeling techniques, with a deep understanding of the complexities of data structure design.
- Strong background in dimensional modeling and data warehouse architecture, with a focus on optimizing performance and scalability.
- Expertise in SQL for data access, manipulation, query optimization, and data cleansing across large datasets.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database systems, particularly within the Azure/Fabric ecosystem.
- Proven experience with the re-platforming or modernization of legacy database systems to cloud-based environments.
- Practical experience in implementing data architecture strategies within Microsoft Azure/Fabric.
