About the Job
We are seeking a Data Movement Engineer to assist with modernizing our current ETL environment and building new ETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines as we transition toward a cloud-based infrastructure. This role supports our data architects, data analysts, and business intelligence developers on diverse data initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-directed, comfortable managing data requirements for multiple teams and systems, and brings a strong background in data management to develop efficient, effective data processes and systems.
Responsibilities
- Complete the full lifecycle of ETL/ELT development to address business needs, including design, mappings, data transformations, scheduling, and testing.
- Translate data movement requirements into technical designs.
- Develop ETL/ELT workflows, mappings, and data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into target environments.
- Manage data extraction and transmission to external vendors.
- Develop test plans and perform unit testing.
- Create supporting documentation for new processes.
- Collaborate with data analysts to understand business processes and corporate data.
- Assess impacts on data warehouse structures and information flows due to changes in business or technical requirements.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that support business processes.
- Provide production support for data solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to remediation planning and implementation.
- Perform data quality analysis, report issues, and propose solutions for data quality management.
- Participate in customer support and expand upon internal controls.
- Estimate efforts for software development and testing, including researching costs.
- Estimate upgrades of vendor packages and integration with existing systems.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours support as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence tools, and data analysis.
- At least 3 years of SQL query development experience, preferably across multiple database platforms, with expertise in normalized relational databases and dimensional data warehouse implementations.
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT concepts and tools (Informatica IICS and PowerCenter preferred).
- Some experience with cloud-based database technologies.
- Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts, structures, and ETL best practices.
- Experience using query tools (e.g., AQT, MS Query).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and curiosity in addressing complex questions.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in team settings, contributing to team goals and project completion.
- Some experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is desirable.
Education
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the field.
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $48 - $58/per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
