Job Title: Data Collection StaffJob Location: Indianapolis, INWork Arrangement: OnsiteDuties:Incumbent enhances criminal history records by researching and collecting Courtdocuments, and by entering this data into a designated web portal. This positionrequires the incumbent to collect court documentation from within Indiana, otherstates, Military, Federal, etc. to assist in registration efforts for the Stateof Indiana. Incumbent reports to the Sex and Violent Offender Registration andVictim Services Division of the Indiana Department of Correction. This is ahybrid position that does requires three days within the office and offers twodays of remote work each week once training is completed.Essential Functions:- Research and collect Court documents and sentencing information- Analyze and interpret the documents collected- Communicate with local and State law enforcement agencies- Enter data into a designated web portal- Perform related duties as assigned by Division StaffJob Requirements:- Broad experience with data collection and data entry.- Broad knowledge of the Indiana Criminal Code.- Thorough knowledge of the Department of Correction, as well as all levels ofthe Criminal Justice System.- Experience and comfortability with court documents and legal jargon- Broad knowledge of national criminal justice research resources.- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.- Strong organizational and time management skills.-Ability to read and process data including information on crimes that isdetailed, thorough, and contains sensitive material- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with department staffand external agency staff.Difficulty of Work:- Incumbent must be able to handle multiple, complex tasks and make gooddecisions based on his or her knowledge and understanding of each specificquestion and assignment.- Incumbent must use multiple methods in accomplishing an end result or outcomeof a particular task and must be timely and accurate in completion of all tasks.- Incumbent’s work must be accurate. Consequences of inaccurate data include anegative public perception of the Department and potential public safety risksto the communities.- Incumbent works independently with work being reviewed on a periodic basis foraccuracy, compliance with policy, and overall Department goals.Personal Work Relationships:- Incumbent must maintain working relationships with all Department personnel todiscuss projects related to their needs.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree requiredMaster’s Degree preferredEquivalent work experience may also be considered
