Position Overview: We are recruiting for positions with a large global company that operates and maintains data centers across the US. These openings are due to a new data center build out and increased capacity across their data centers in Chicago to meet growing customer demand. As a member of the company’s facilities engineering team, you will be joining a team-based organization with a well establish and industry recognized training program and culture that fosters personal initiative and respect for team members. In this role you will be responsible for operating and maintaining mission critical infrastructure and building support systems. You will develop maintenance and operational procedures as well as provide oversight to contracted maintenance and support personnel. This is not just a “hands-on” maintenance and operations role, but an all-encompassing position where you will make a difference on how systems are run based on routine analysis and equipment changes to ensure optimal performance. Duties
- Continually learn and strive to gain experience and qualifications for the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical support systems, including power distribution systems, emergency power, HVAC, cooling, BAS, fire alarm and suppression systems.
- Work with the management team to develop and implement new maintenance standards, as well as work to improve existing procedures to support site operations.
- Act as the technical point of contact for all maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of facility engineering equipment and systems.
- Participate in facility construction and commissioning activities.
- Supervise and critique work performance by subcontractors to ensure adherence to standards, schedules, and specifications. This includes any third-party contract hires to support data center and base building infrastructure.
- Maintain a record of maintenance discrepancies and work with supervisors to resolve site issues based on team priorities.
- Provide backup to IT/Operations staff and security to ensure customer requirements are always being met.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Seeking prior-military Technicians (Electrical, Mechanical or Controls backgrounds)
- Ability to rapidly learn and master all facets of the data center mission critical plant and auxiliary systems.
- At least four years of relevant experience in the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical support systems.
- Experience working with contracted repair and installation organization, to include QA, testing and acceptance procedures
- Desire experience in the use of test equipment such as multimeters, power quality meters, and other test equipment to evaluate and troubleshoot equipment operation.
- Evening shifts are a high priority, but we have openings on Day shifts
