SUMMARY:
Provide operational support and technical services for the critical data center of a fast-paced technology company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components.
- Provide daily assistance to executive technicians, read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems, and assess their working order.
- Be responsible for the uptime and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
- Develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs, whilst improving efficiencies.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
- Maintain the 4160/480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution gear.
- Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a basic understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, Transformers, PLCs, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS’, ATS’ PDU’s, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH’s, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems
- Basic knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes regarding fire life safety.
- Current knowledge of industrial safety best practices (i.e., lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations)
- Utilize a PC-based integrated critical monitoring system and BMS Controls.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. of equipment, and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
- Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Capacity to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal working hours or after hours.
- Logically analyze and solve problems and effectively multi-task projects.
- Ability to communicate with vendors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.
- Work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts nights, holidays, and some weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of experience or upper degree in controls/automation, construction/technical environment, or a related field working in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units.
- Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
