Job Title: Data Center Engineer
Location(s): Dayton, OH
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer with 5 to 8 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Network Basics, Compute Platforms, and Database Basics. This hybrid role involves day shifts with no travel required. The Data Center Engineer will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing data to support our company's objectives and positively impact society.

Responsibilities:
• Design and Implementation: Develop and implement robust IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
• Maintenance and Support: Perform regular maintenance and updates to IT systems, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and support end-users.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve complex technical issues escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 support teams, providing expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect IT infrastructure from cyber threats and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their technical needs and provide appropriate solutions.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations, and procedures for future reference and audits.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals, including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists, to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems.
• Project Management: Execute IT infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget, and adherence to quality standards.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Training and Support: Provide technical guidance and training to junior IT staff and end-users as needed.
Data Center Engineering Candidates Will Need One or More of the Following:
• Monitor and manage physical data center access, including escorting non-AA personnel within the facility.
• Review system messages, inspect equipment, and report issues to ensure hardware functionality and minimize downtime.
• Forecast resource requirements and coordinate with teams to scale data center operations based on evolving needs.
• Conduct and support audits for compliance (e.g., FM Global, PCI/PII, security protocols) and ensure adherence to industry standards.
• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for equipment maintenance and upgrades, ensuring timely resolution of any vendor-related issues.
• Troubleshoot and respond to critical failures and emergencies, addressing hardware, network, or software issues and escalating when necessary.
• Develop and execute disaster recovery and backup plans to protect data and ensure business continuity during emergencies.
• Maintain documentation of equipment, incidents, and maintenance activities, keeping records up to date for audit and troubleshooting purposes.
• Monitor power distribution and cooling systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions, ensuring energy efficiency and system reliability
• Prepare assets for disposal or relocation as needed, following established processes for decommissioning hardware.
• Create and assist with incident tickets, providing technical support and problem resolution in coordination with other IT teams.
• Familiarity with installing, configuring, and integrating new hardware, including firmware and patch updates, ensuring smooth deployment with minimal disruptions.
• Familiarity with network equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring reliable connectivity
• Language, Communication Skills, & Physical Abilities
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written with all organizational levels.
• Physical ability necessary to perform the position’s essential functions safely and successfully, with or without any legally required reasonable accommodations that do not pose an undue hardship. Must be able to lift 35lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrable hands-on IT work experience supporting and resolving diverse PC desktop software and hardware issues.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must be willing to work varying shifts (Day, Night, Split, or weekends).
• Airline industry experience is preferred.
Skills, Experience, Licenses, & Certifications:
• Familiarity with workflow and ITSM tools and ticketing systems.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interface at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and perform in a collaborative, team-based environment.
