Data Analyst with Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN)
Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software. Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets. Visualize, interpret, and report data findings. May create dynamic data reports.
Analyze complex data and broad data sets to develop actionable insights that can inform Vanderbilt University’s Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) strategy and drive development and alumni engagement efforts. Gather and clarify requirements to ensure that analytical outputs meet the needs of stakeholders. Develop new predictive models, using data from multiple sources, to better refine donor capacity and affinity while identifying new opportunities for donor engagement and increasing the effectiveness of fundraising teams. Understand and prepare raw data, apply data models using statistical methods and algorithms and then extract and communicate useful results in easily digestible formats. Identify opportunities to introduce and synthesize data sets from internal and external sources in an effort to answer complex organizati6onal questions. Ensure a high quality of accuracy in data reported, Utilize Data Governance principles to ensure ongoing compliance with internal policies and guarantee data is used in a consistent way. Document data sources and flow to guide reporting accuracy. Work independently with DAR and the University community to understand challenges with analytics and provide recommendations to increase analytics and reporting effectiveness.
Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Position requires 2 years of related experience, which must include some experience in each of the following skills: Data visualization; Salesforce or CRM experience; Tableau; SQL language; Python (NumPy, Sklearn) and R; Database design experience; Machine Learning and Predictive Modeling; and API Integration.
Employer will accept pre- or post-Bachelor’s experience.
