Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Services Group (CSG) Clinical Data Quality team is responsible for the development and implementation of HCA’s Clinical Data and Analytics (CDA) data quality initiatives as well as the expansion of business processes and performance related to HCA's Clinical Data Management Office’s (CDMO) Data and Data Quality (DQ) strategies.
This position is a corporate-level data analyst position that provides technical and operational support in the execution of clinical data systems that have direct impact in operational clinical areas. The position requires an understanding and appreciation for Clinical Information; its capabilities, limitations, and impact on other data and/or data normalization/standardization.
This position also requires building an understanding of healthcare-based information technology, data quality management, health information management, privacy and security, and awareness of data product management, governance, and data user literacy. This position will be responsible for creating and monitoring quality analysis, ongoing quality assessments and scorecards, and ad hoc data metric reporting. This individual will be part of a team of analysts in the CSG CDMO.
Summary of Position:
The CDMO Data Analyst II position will support CDMO data usage analysis, data asset/product development, ad hoc reporting, data quality, and ETL work throughout the CDA organization. This role will be responsible for creating ad hoc and standard reports for data stewards and data users on the operational and data quality aspects related to assigned products or clinical data. Additionally, the Data Analyst II will present and review enterprise data in the form of reports, dashboards and scorecards; and assist in defining and monitoring operation requirements defined by the CDMO.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in a standardized and consistent approach relating to CDMO participation and implementation of Data Quality, Data Governance, Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics
- With direction and supervision, becomes a subject matter specialist to assist development of the appropriate strategies, plans, tools and approaches to ensure successful implementation of BI reports, dashboards and scorecards
· Works to think analytically and critically to participate in data standardization and automation efforts
· Present data formally and informally to facilitate discussion regarding data outputs
· Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to use clinical data in improving usage and operational workflow
· Provide advanced analysis and ad hoc operational data quality and data literacy reports as requested by stakeholders, business partners, and leadership
· Ability to understand clinical data in order to develop and design data quality rules, data models, and business requirements
· Obtain user/stakeholder feedback on usage activities to continuously improve CDMO output
· Use and support database applications and analytical tools, perform assigned duties to advance data quality, data normalization applications, and specific data workflow functions
· With limited direction and supervision, build, run, interpret, and provide in depth “what if?” analysis of data using CDMO available tools
· Other duties assigned as necessary, to support CDMO, and Clinical Services Group
Qualifications:
- Possesses interpersonal skills to work in a high profile and fast paced team
- Demonstrated oral, written, and technical communication skills, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Multiple years of experience in small to mid-size reporting development projects (building ad hoc and standard queries)
· Demonstrated knowledge to understand data quality attributes, dimensions, and industry norms in order to develop and design impactful data quality reports
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated SQL development experience with strong SQL skills
- SQL server experience
- Building, interpreting, and presenting data stories with BI visualization tools
- Tableau and PowerBI experience
- Working knowledge and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools including BigQuery and Looker
- Working knowledge of clinical data within a healthcare system
- Basic understanding of health industry data standards/normalization needed for data interoperability and health information exchange (i.e. LOINC, SNOMED-CT, RxNorm, ICD-9, etc.)
- Technical aptitude to learn and adapt to new industry data quality and data management applications/tools
- Knows and applies the fundamental concepts and principles gained through experience to solve business data problems and moderately complex data analysis
- Ability to communicate and facilitate topics clearly and effectively across department lines; working inside peer groups and receiving guidance from supervisor
- Works with and without direct supervision - demonstrated skills to work independently
Education and Experience
- College degree required
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in data analysis
- Specific expertise and experience in the areas of data quality, data management, and data analytics
