About the Job
As a Denver-based Spotfire data analyst and Geological/Engineering tech, you will be responsible for supporting Sage Butte’s asset management team focused on optimizing the company’s oil and gas assets. Your expertise in, analytics, engineering principles, and geographic information systems (GIS) will contribute to efficient operations and informed decision-making.
Your responsibilities will include:
- You will create, collect, and validate Sage Butte asset data sourced from the enterprise GIS system and public sources. You will also ensure the accuracy and completeness of geological and engineering data related to oil and gas assets. You will assist engineers and geologists in database management and accessing and interpreting Oil and Gas data.
- You will conduct Spotfire and GIS and data analysis to extract meaningful insights. You will utilize industry-standard GIS and analytics tools to integrate geological, engineering, and land information to support basin studies and presentations.
- You will maintain production databases, ensuring data integrity and consistency. In addition, you will collaborate across functions to optimize data storage, retrieval, and reporting. IT support for servers and software in Casper, Denver, and Houston offices will be required as needed.
To qualify for this role, you will need:
Education
- A BS degree in geography, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience with industry-standard GIS OR GIS certification. Proficiency in Spotfire and ArcGIS (including ArcMap and ArcCatalog). Basic proficiency in MS Office applications. Knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems. Basic proficiency in VBScript. Ability to apply math skills to drafting problems.
Energy industry background preferred.
Desired Skillset
· Familiarity with FME, SQL, Python/ArcPy, and APDM/PODS.
· Experience with the GVERSE/GeoGraphix geological software platform.
· Familiarity with IHS, Enverus, and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission data
· Familiarity with WellView a plus
