JOB SUMMARY
Join the Boston Harbor Hotel, Boston’s only Forbes Five-Star AAA Five-Diamond waterfront hotel, as a Prep Cook and become an integral part of our exceptional culinary team. We seek a dedicated and detail-oriented hospitality professional with a deep understanding of the guest experience. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and packaging high-quality food items for Dandelion, ensuring that each product aligns with our five-star standards of freshness, flavor, and presentation. Ideal candidates will demonstrate efficiency in food preparation, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities for the Prep Cook include the following but are not limited to:
- Preparing food in a kitchen by gathering, chopping, portioning, and processing ingredients
- Storing food, cleaning work areas and tools, preparing take-away packages, disposing of waste, and cleaning garbage containers
- Slicing and dicing fruits, vegetables, and meat; making salads, sandwiches, and other cold food items
- Working effectively with the team, and complying with company procedures and food safety policies
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to performance of key responsibilities, this position may be required to possess a combination of the following skills and experiences:
- Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team.
- Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Must have organizational and time management skills
- Must create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing. A second language is desirable.
- Must have critical thinking and decision making skills
- Must be familiar with the local area.
- Ability to transport (pull, push) up to 50 lbs.
Experience:
Must have at least (1) or more years of experience, with a combination of previous food & beverage experience. Luxury Environment experience preferred.
