S&ME is seeking a Dams & Hydropower PracticeLead to join our team in one of our Southeast or Mid-West offices to drive our dams and hydropower practice in a regional or company-wide perspective based on qualifications.
The Dams & Hydropower Practice Lead will involve collaboration, managing clients, developing proposals, and marketing S&ME's services with an emphasis in the municipal, energy, private and industrial markets. Responsibilities will be primarily focused on dams and hydropower, including earthen and concrete structural dams, hydropower, pump storage, reservoirs, levees, locks, etc. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, self-motivated, embraces teamwork, and has the desire to grow and develop professionally. Will also have strong knowledge of project management, geotechnical, and structural analysis regarding construction, inspection, and operations of dams, and an understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, sustainable and adaptable design, erosion, and sediment control, and associated permitting related to the practice area
Your Day-to-Day:
The Dams & Hydropower Practice Lead will be focused on the municipal, energy, private, and industrial markets to achieve the plan as well as establish strategies that fuel the sustained growth of the practice.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement growth strategies, ensuring the sustained expansion of the practice.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our dams and hydropower professionals, providing technical support and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Client Management: Identify, develop, and maintain strong client relationships, promoting positive experiences and driving profitable opportunities.
- Market Insight: Leverage a deep understanding of market conditions, adjusting strategies to remain competitive and relevant.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, implementing cost-effective solutions to enhance service delivery.
- Business Development: Coordinate with business development and regional teams to identify market needs and create new service opportunities.
- Leadership: Serve as a champion, project manager, or technical lead on strategic projects, ensuring quality and successful delivery.
What You Bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field
- 15+ years of dam experience with 5+ years of management or client development experience, a plus
- A Professional Engineering License (P.E.), a plus
- Experience with the preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications
- The ability to travel to foster in-person interactions with clients and team members
- The ability to make technical presentations to promote S&ME design capabilities to potential clients and professional organizations
- FERC dam experience, a plus
