Job Title: CX Standards & Guidelines Technical Writer

Rate: $34/hr on 1099 or C2C

We are seeking a technical writer to assist with the creation and publication of web-based design standards and guidelines. The ideal candidate will be a smart and proactive writer interested in documenting the detailed specifications required to reproduce consistent web design. This role is ideal for someone willing to take ownership of the production process for complex documentation. The people you will work with in this role are both your SMEs and your users, so your work will be immediately appreciated.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field
- Experience in a content production role
- Strong writing, content research, and editing skills
- Experience with and basic understanding of web technology such as HTML, CSS, Metadata, and graphic formats
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to copy-edit others' work
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
- A solid understanding of developments in the field of web design, usability and accessibility
- Knowledge of content management systems
- Experience as a technical or documentation writer
- Interest or background in interaction design, visual design, or information architecture
The S&G Technical Writer:
- Drafts, edits, and formats moderately complex to complex web pages and documents. Drafts and/or edits moderately complex web content. Researches, analyzes and translates technical information for technical and non-technical users. Utilizes knowledge documentation practice and basic knowledge of HTML to build clear and authoritative design documentation.
- Creates original content from information supplied by others or gathered directly. Edits technical documentation authored by others and ensures documentation is in compliance with internal standards and user needs. May participate in establishing documentation guidelines.
- Moves primary source material into publishing templates to publish as web pages.
- Researches open issues, tracking down missing information.
- Interviews subject matter experts and create proscriptive documentation based on this information.
- Processes graphic images so they are the appropriate size and resolution.
- Writes drafts of provisional standards based on interviews with interaction designers.
- Inputs content into html templates for web publishing and may train others to do so.
