Key Responsibilities:
• Transmission of Customs Entries to US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) for import shipments
• Receiving, reviewing, and processing import documentation for an assigned base of accounts
• Preparing daily activities including preparing delivery orders for some of the brokerage files, FilingISF (Importer Security Filing), answering emails
• Processing documents through the system and interface and providing updates and communications for internal and external customers to produce timely and compliant transactions
• Coordinating the release of goods from the carrier, Customs or Partnering Government Agencies and examinations that may be required
• Tracing key transaction information such as HBL, commercial invoice, and other required documents to determine if record is available
• Learning and applying U.S. Government regulations (i.e.: ISF, customs entry, Partnering Government Agencies, Quota, Anti-Dumping/Countervailing)
• Coordinating shipments with Consignees and Brokers
• Corresponding with overseas suppliers of the customers for missing or incomplete set of documents required for Entry Filing
• Developing and maintaining excellent customer service to internal and external customers
• Handling the files from A to Z
• Responsible to ensure legal compliance, provide import guidance and control within government rules and regulations
• Work with internal and external customers, freight forwarders, and other areas to ensure timely, complete and accurate filing of ISF and Entries
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in Customs Entry writing
• Knowledge of current and historical Customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and related directives of government agencies (including but not limited to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Agriculture Department (USDA) is a plus)
• Experience with the handling of hazardous materials preferred
• Experience working with CargoWise is preferred
• Be able to work independently, multi-task, be a team player and work in a fast-paced environment
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
