Customs Compliance Manager or Supervisor – Los Angeles area:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Customs Manager to lead our customs clearance operations in the freight forwarding sector. This key role involves ensuring full compliance with local, regional, and international customs regulations while maintaining exceptional service standards for our clients. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and extensive experience in customs brokerage and freight forwarding practices.
· Supervise and manage customs clearance operations for both import and export shipments.
· Ensure precise classification of goods, accurate duty calculations, and timely submission of required documentation.
· Stay current on customs regulations, tariffs, and trade compliance standards.
· Guarantee adherence to all applicable customs laws and regulations.
· Handle and resolve audits, disputes, or penalties related to customs.
· Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and enhance compliance.
· Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding customs-related inquiries.
· Offer expert guidance on trade compliance, duty savings, and logistics strategies.
· Cultivate strong working relationships with customs authorities and other relevant entities.
· Lead, train, and support a team of customs brokers and clearance professionals.
· Establish performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations of team performance.
· Promote a culture focused on efficiency, continuous improvement, and excellence.
· Track and analyze key performance metrics (KPIs) for customs operations.
· Identify process improvement opportunities to optimize clearance times.
· Generate and present regular reports to senior leadership on customs operations and performance.
Qualifications:
- Scope: oversee the US as the priority and then Mexico
- Language: Mandarin is a must
- Report to: US GM/ HQ Customs Director
- Prefer: Demonstrated experience in customs brokerage, in-house customs operations, and working with freight forwarders

Qualifications:
- A Customs Broker license is a must and being familiar with Mexico customs is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 10 years of directly related customs compliance experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good written and verbal skills and the ability to effectively tailor approaches to reach audiences at all organizational levels in both English and Mandarin are required
- Demonstrated experience in customs brokerage, in-house customs operations, and working with freight forwarders
