Job Summary
As Pete's Fresh Market is a customer-centric company, the Customer Service Concierge is a designated individual within the store setting whose main initiatives are to focus on customer satisfaction, creating a personalized, community for our patrons, and increasing store profitability.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Help customers find everything on their shopping list and suggest products that would complement their needs (e.g., cross merchandising opportunities)
- Make connections with frequent shoppers and create a neighborhood feel
- Crowd control (e.g., direct traffic at the front end, mitigate long waits at the deli by passing out samples)
- Handle customer complaints and direct customer feedback appropriately
- Promote Sales
- Upsell/Suggestive Selling
- Organize Demos
- Place Catering Orders
- Detail Orientation
- Check expiration dates
- Help Scan Coordinator with shelf tags (ensure proper position, accuracy, etc.)
- Promote safety and security by keeping an eye on debris on the floor as well as suspicious activity
- Communication
- Communicate frequently with Department Managers, Store Managers, and Buyers
- Document observations and customer requests/behavior and provide this feedback to management
- Community Outreach/Donations
- Spearhead the food rescue/scavenger program
- Facilitate events and community outreach programming
Other duties as assigned
Education. Certifications. and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience
- Three (3) years of grocery or retail experience
- Food Handler Certificate

- Patience and an approachable, friendly demeanor
- High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, especially when communicating verbally
- Conflict Resolution
- Attention to detail
- Self-directed and ambitious
- Strong communication skills via phone, e-mail, and in person discussions
- Excellent fluency with the English language; command of Spanish language a plus
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- The potential for prolonged standing, walking, squatting, and/or bending
- The ability to lift, push, or pull up to 501bs, on occasion
- Occasional high stress when dealing with systems, customers, and/or staff members
