The Customer Service Associate supports the Sedgwick County Health
Department and its mission by welcoming the community and providing
exceptional public service. This position serves as a vital member of
the clinic team by providing direct patient interaction, performing
accurate and timely data entry, and ensuring fiscal processes comply
with departmental standards. Communicates with the multidisciplinary
team to provide competent, culturally appropriate, and customer focused
care. Provides Spanish interpretation to Spanish-speaking clients as
needed. Employee will provide support during public health emergencies
(Activation Level 1).
Provide direct client interactions
- Welcome and assist internal and external customers
- Identify customer needs, clarify information, research issues;
provide information and resources to clients as needed
- Provide accurate and up to date information to clients
- Schedule, reschedule, cancel and send reminders for customer
appointments
- Informs patients of financial obligations, payment requirements, and
encourages initial payment of fees at time of service
- Check-in and check-out clients politely and professionally
- Assists Spanish speaking clients when needed
Perform accurate and timely data entry
- Collect and enter insurance and/or financial information from
clients
- Collect and verify client demographic data
- Accurately enter data into required electronic health record and
other databases
- Create/update medical records
- Audit data to verify information is correct, timely, and complete
Collect, document and submit client payment information
- Collect and post client payments accurately according to protocol
- Complete and submit accurate reports of payments received per policy
and procedure
- Maintain and audit assigned cash bag per protocol
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must complete
Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700
courses within 30 days of employment. Must pass Workforce Center
English/Spanish fluency testing with a score of 85% for fluency and 70%
for office grammar and spelling to be completed after interview.
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One-year
experience, billing, medical office, and/or customer service
environment.
