Position Summary
This position is responsible for keeping buildings in a clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass. Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk.

Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards, extreme temperatures, and humidity. Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, and cleaning chemicals. Moderate equipment noise at times. The job requires you to constantly stand, walk, and lift or carry ten pounds or less. Frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling throughout the workday.

Essential Functions
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
- Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
- Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
- Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand and power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds.
- Operate security systems, open buildings, and secure buildings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Experience: Six months to one-year related experience.

- Computer skills: Ability to use email systems, word processing, and spreadsheet software
