Job Title: Custodian Light Manufacturing Facility
Reports to: Shift Supervisor
Position Summary:
The custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within our light manufacturing facility. This role includes daily cleaning tasks, assisting with machine cleaning, and performing seasonal outdoor maintenance activities. The custodian will work closely with the facilities team to ensure all areas, inside and out, are maintained to high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Cleaning which includes:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors in manufacturing, office, and common areas.
- Dust and clean surfaces, including desks, tables, and other furniture.
- Empty trash bins and recycling containers throughout the facility.
- Maintain restrooms, break rooms, and other shared spaces to ensure cleanliness and availability of supplies.
- Order supplies
Special Event set up and take down:
- Set up the area for monthly employee luncheons and box leftovers
- Help with holiday decorations for the plant
- Set up for visitors to the plant and clean area after they depart
Machine Cleaning Assistance which includes:
- Aid in the cleaning of manufacturing machinery under the supervision of operators or maintenance staff.
- Use appropriate cleaning tools and techniques to ensure machinery is free from dust, debris, and potential contaminants.
Outdoor Maintenance which includes:
- Perform light landscaping duties, such as mowing grass, raking leaves, and clearing debris.
- Spread salt or sand on walkways during winter months to ensure safe access for employees.
- Pick up litter and other debris around the exterior of the facility as needed.
Routine Inspections which include:
- Conduct regular checks of facility cleaning supplies and inform the supervisor of any replenishment needs.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues within the facility that require further attention.
Health and Safety Compliance which includes:
- Follow established safety protocols and utilize protective equipment as necessary.
- Ensure all cleaning chemicals and equipment are stored safely and used according to guidelines.
Qualifications:
Prior custodial or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
Basic understanding of safe handling practices for cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Physical ability to perform routine custodial tasks, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work outdoors for short periods, in various weather conditions, to complete seasonal tasks.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently, while maintaining a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail.
Work Environment:
This role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting throughout the shift. The custodian will work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the tasks at hand and the time of year.
Schedule:
Full-time; typical hours are Monday- Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm. Some flexibility may be required for seasonal needs or special projects.
