The Custodial Facilities Manager is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the custodial operations of the entire district. This role requires strong project management skills to effectively manage large custodial teams, including union staff, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer satisfaction. The Custodial Facilities Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for customer interfacing, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
1st shift: 7am to 3:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Custodial Operations Management: Oversee and coordinate the custodial operations of the entire district, ensuring that cleaning services are delivered efficiently and effectively. Develop and implement cleaning protocols, procedures, and quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Team Leadership: Manage and provide leadership to a large custodial team, including union staff. Recruit, train, and develop team members, promoting a positive work environment and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans for custodial operations, including daily routines, periodic deep cleaning, and special projects. Coordinate resources, manage timelines, and ensure successful project execution within budgetary constraints.
- Customer Interfacing: Act as the primary point of contact for customer interfacing, establishing, and maintaining positive relationships with school administrators, staff, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with them to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure consistent adherence to cleaning standards. Conduct regular inspections, track performance metrics, and address any deficiencies or issues promptly. Develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the custodial budget. Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure optimal allocation of resources. Collaborate with the Facilities Director or relevant stakeholders to prioritize spending and align with district objectives.
- Vendor and Supplier Management: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of cleaning supplies, equipment, and services. Manage contracts, negotiate pricing, and monitor performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
- Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs for custodial staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. Provide ongoing support and coaching to enhance performance and promote professional growth.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and guidelines pertaining to custodial operations. Develop and enforce safety protocols, conduct training on proper handling of chemicals and equipment, and promote a culture of safety among custodial staff.
- Reporting and Documentation: Generate reports and maintain accurate documentation related to custodial operations, including work schedules, cleaning logs, inventory records, and performance metrics. Provide regular updates to the Facilities Director or relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications or professional affiliations are a plus.
- Proven experience in managing custodial operations, preferably in an educational or public sector environment.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to effectively manage large teams, including union staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of custodial best practices, cleaning techniques, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with budget management and cost control principles.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and guidelines applicable to custodial operations.
- Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software applications.
- The Custodial Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire district. This position requires strong leadership, project management, and customer service skills to effectively manage custodial operations.
