Job Summary: The primary role of the Cultivation Operations Supervisor is to oversee all factors associated with production at Claybourne Co.'s vegetative plant production facility. The Cultivation Operations Supervisor's role encompasses all aspects of vegetative growth labor operations management, production planning, and development of standard operating procedures associated with such. This position works closely with the VP of Cultivation and Breeding, Head Grower, and Agronomist to make sure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and with the Claybourne Co.'s standards of quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate and be a point of contact for the facility/department to leadership.
- Oversee the operational management and business activities of the cultivation department in their assigned facility.
- Assists in establishing the overall agronomic and operational strategy and building the operational road map to achieve maximum yields, increase ROI, create efficiencies, solve problems, and test new farming concepts and technologies.
- Support and implement SOPs, methods, policies, objectives to advance their department, and ensure continuing operations to increase productivity and guarantee regulatory compliance.
- Understand and manipulate CA State regulatory tracking system, METRC. Assign, apply, and audit METRC tags and inventory.
- Supervise departmental Leads and their teams in the development and execution of the flower-to-harvest cultivation schedule. Improving work ethic, enhancing skills, train, guide, and increase morale.
- Assist facility leadership in the development and execution of the facility production schedule.
- Aids in the ideation and execution of experimental trials to achieve key company objectives and documents procedures, results, and conclusions.
- Helps to scout for the effects of soil, water, nutrients, pests, and climate on yield and quality of the crops.
- Works with management to evaluate crop year performance, makes recommendations for ongoing improvements, and updates company best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with team leads to proactively share necessary information, develop best practices, and work through agronomic and operational problems quickly and sustainably with management.
- Ensure facility decisions and project plans are in line with the Company's business strategy and operational plan.
- Monitor and record overall health of the plants from transplant to harvest
- Consistently input transition, growth, harvest, and environmental data for future facility and plant growing techniques.
- Continuously improve product quality as well as operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs including but not limited to direct and indirect labor, product materials and capital investments by improving workflow, achievement of internal project dates and improving efficiency and effectiveness of the costs of production in facilities, engineering, equipment, operations, inventory levels and holding costs.
- Utilize KPIs to monitor, adjust, reward, and optimize company operations performance.
- Creates an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the company's mission, vision, and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Function as a core team member and subject matter expert in working sessions designed to cross-functionally improve outcomes.
- Manage the team's time reporting and attendance records, ensuring accurate tracking of work hours and compliance with company policies.
- Work with Safety Coordinator to implement a safe work place and training program.
- Participate in team meetings.
- 5 years direct experience or Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agronomy, or related field with 3 years direct experience
- Current valid California pesticide applicator license.
- Experience in cultivation using vertical racking systems, soil data monitoring systems, and LED lighting.
- Proven experience in overseeing aspects of professional production environments including equipment handling, production, operations, processing, and execution.
- Identification of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
- Cannabis growing experience preferred, not required
- Must pass all required background checks
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the Cannabis industry
- Must possess valid driver's license
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Will be required to be on-call and to respond to emergency situations at any time. This may include scheduling issues, potentially covering a vacant shift, facility issues and/ or human resources requirements.
- Computer and Microsoft Office skills.
- Bilingual (English and some Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to work longer hours during busy seasons (Weekends included).

- The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.
- Frequently works in rooms with bright light where eye protection is needed.

- The person in this position is constantly exposed to moderate background noise due to environmental systems, equipment, and fans.
- Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and lift up to 50 pounds
- Continuously walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
- Wear respirators and other PPE for a long period of time.
