The technology team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for strategy development, process improvement, and agile implementation. The selectee will be responsible for oversight and execution of core technology functions including: IRAD/R&D investment allocation and tracking, catalog offering management, intellectual property management, and academic/partner engagement. The Chief of Staff will ensure the smooth and efficient implementation and functioning of the various CTO systems and processes while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
The Chief of Staff, reporting directly to the CTO, coordinates all activities across the Technology function.
The Technology team is seeking a highly motivated individual that has the drive to help champion our journey towards becoming a digital leader.
The Chief of Staff is a highly visible position with frequent exposure to senior leadership.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop and implement strategies for the allocation of resources to implement Nightwing’s research & development efforts, and to monitor progress of those efforts.Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends and evaluate their potential for improving operational efficiency.Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline technical needs and ensure consistent performance.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define investment and operational metrics, track performance, and implement improvements as needed.Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.Develop and manage the technical operations budget, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost optimization opportunities.Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the organization's technical infrastructure and sensitive information.Collaborate with business representatives to identify solutions to organizational technical challengesAct as an advisor for new ideas and initiativesAssist with identification and strategic alignment of key prioritiesEnsure all key strategic initiatives are executed per scheduleProvide insight into the health of the current organization (e.g., employee satisfaction, issues, etc.)Prepare all presentations, including: Monthly updates to NW President and other executives presentations (Monthly Operations Review); external speaking opportunities; Town Halls, etc.Participate in meetings, keeping track of action items and driving completion of open tasksExecute meeting preparation and follow-up activities including: Review of upcoming weekly schedule; information / data collection; distribution of documentation to meeting attendeesCreate and / or review internal and external communications including: organization-wide emails, presentations, Mysite articles, speeches, etc.Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, with 8 – 10 years’ experienceExperience and comfort in communicating and negotiating with C-Level Executives.Strong knowledge of program management, planning, and execution.Substantive experience with change management initiativesExperience working across technical domains and marketsExcellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving continuous improvement.Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and senior managementAdvanced technical or business degrees are a plusPossesses a high level of professionalismSelf-motived, eager to learn and customer focusedAble to provide strategic leadership and adaptable to changing prioritiesExceptional project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects / priorities • Results-oriented with strong focus on success and achievementExhibits effective decision-making and excellent time management skillsStrategic thinker, data-driven and analytical in approach to solving problemsExcels at building relationships and networks; influences others to achieve outcomesStrong written and verbal communicator with excellent presentation skills; listens well and can easily learn to communicate in someone else’s “written voice”Possesses agile/scrum experience or certificationAbility to obtain clearance up to TS/SCI w polyPreviously part of a leading Fortune 100 company and headquartered in Dulles, VA; Nightwing became independent in 2024 but continues to support the nation’s most mission impactful initiatives.When we formed Nightwing, we brought a deep set of credentials and an unfaltering commitment to the mission.
