Overview:The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility that consists of several units that meet the diverse needs of pediatric patients: Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. We offer subspecialty services through consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology.
The Family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team including physicians, professional nursing services, child life specialists, social services, and nutrition support.
All our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, with visitors gaining entry via monitored access. All pediatric patients wear security tags to assure their safety. Our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room.
Our Pediatric unit and PIMU have 38-bed capacity. The Pediatric unit is in Kellemen building on South 7th and offers 26 beds.
The PKIR is also located in Kellemen building on S7th floor. The area consists of large room with two bays and available for inpatient and outpatient procedures, infusions, and various tests.
The PIMU located on Kellemen North 6th and has 12 beds.
The PICU is a private 6-bed unit located in Kellemen on 6th floor that provides intensive care to pediatric patients requiring hospitalization for life-threatening and potentially life- threatening illnesses or injury.
The primary services of the PICU include Pediatric Critical Care and Trauma.

Short Description:Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care.
Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s).
Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.
1. Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
2. Performs technical duties as directed by RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately.
3. Identifies and communicates changes in patient’s status to RN and responds appropriately. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
4. Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
5. Participates in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals. Participates in the performance improvement activities. Assists in orientation of new hires.
6. Completes annual unit-specific competencies by specified due date.
7. Attends Staff Meetings when available for documents review of staff meeting minutes.
8. Assists in admission, transfers and discharges of patients to and from the unit
0-2 years of experience preferred
Education Requirements:High School / GED
License/Certification Requirements:Qualifications/Certifications
- Successful completion of an unlicensed health care provider/ technician program
- Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN Program
- 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role.
At least one of the above qualifications/certifications must be met for hire.
AHA Basic Life Support certification - required
