POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides direct and indirect clinical services to all patients requiring behavioral health intervention presenting in the and General Hospital Emergency Departments. Responsible for providing age-appropriate assessment and treatment to a diverse population with multiple needs. Core skills include crisis triage and assessment, individual and family intervention, case management, community collaboration, patient/family education, insurance verification and collaboration and treatment planning and placement to appropriate level of care. As skill sets permit, may provide flexible coverage to another service within Behavioral Health on a short-term basis.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Master’s Degree and licensure in a Behavioral Health field is required as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed APRN or PhD or equivalent.
- Must receive certification in CPI de-escalation techniques within 6 months of hire into the role and maintain active certification. CPI training is provided by ECHN.
COMPETENCIES:
- This position requires strong clinical skills including a demonstrated strong team orientation.
- Strong written as well as verbal communication using the English language is absolutely essential.
- Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook is essential.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric and risk assessment is essential.
- Knowledge of abuse and neglect reporting mandates, duty to warn mandates, knowledge of community-based resources and experience with Managed Care Organizations are all desirable.
- Flexibility in approach so that service specific as well as overall system needs can be met is critical.
- Must be able to function effectively and independently in a work environment where multitasking is necessary.
- Level of care age specific competencies is required.
- Must be capable of taking swift and efficient action, including patient restraint when responding to patient emergency codes.
