Are you a passionate and dedicated attorney with a strong commitment to criminal justice? We are currently seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney to join our small firm.
Responsibilities:
Case Management: Handle a diverse caseload of criminal defense matters, including but not limited to DUI/DWI, drug offenses, assault, theft, and other criminal charges.
Legal Consultations: Conduct thorough consultations with clients to understand their cases, assess potential legal defenses, and provide clear and strategic legal advice.
Court Appearances: Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, and trials. Present compelling arguments to judges and juries on behalf of clients.
Legal Research and Analysis: Stay updated on changes in criminal law, precedents, and legal strategies. Conduct legal research and analysis to build strong defense cases.
Negotiation and Plea Bargaining: Engage in negotiations with prosecutors to achieve favorable plea bargains when appropriate, always advocating for the best interests of clients.
Client Advocacy: Serve as a strong advocate for clients' rights, ensuring that their constitutional and legal protections are upheld throughout the legal process.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the Michigan State Bar.
Proven experience in criminal defense, preferably in a small firm setting.
Strong knowledge of Michigan criminal laws and court procedures.
Excellent courtroom presence and oral advocacy skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team.
Compassion, empathy, and dedication to ensuring justice for clients.
