The role of the Creative Manager is to work alongside Creative Leadership to oversee the department’s workflow and assign incoming projects to members of the Creative team based on skill level, priority, and current workload. The Creative Manager will serve as an interim project manager in Art Director’s absence. As part of the Creative Team, the Creative Manager will also take on a variety of asks themselves from light design work to larger time intensive projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Image Creation & Art Direction:
- Provide direction and assist with execution of projects, especially as it involves creative assets. Including but not limited to paid ads, photography, template creation, emails, social assets, etc.
- Create and collaborate with internal and external team members to develop creative for all touchpoints.
- Be able to provide specific and constructive feedback to internal team members, agencies, and freelancers in effort to achieve desired results.
- Develop creative solutions to business objectives, while maintaining creative, technical and brand standards.
- Be a resource of creative knowledge and best practices, assist team members in troubleshooting design problems.
- Support the Marketing Director in establishing and evaluating a marketing strategy that contributes to yearly revenue targets and overall growth of the brands.
- Independently manage projects as assigned, including leading team members to achieve intended goals.
- Monitor and analyze data-driven insights to make fact-based decisions.
- Provide regular reporting on conversion and campaign effectiveness
- Be able to answer status updates on any active project in workflow.
- Understand who our competitors are and what they offer to better position our brands and key differentiators in the marketplace.
- Train new and existing employees on digital processes, brand awareness, and efficient techniques for creating marketing collateral.
- Be an advocate for brand standards and aesthetics.
- Work directly with the Marketing Director and other department leads on special projects as needed
- Be capable and flexible in use of multiple communication channels simultaneously.
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
- Associate’s degree in Graphic Design or similar field or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience in a creative related role, or working as part of a creative team
- 3-5 years of experience in a marketing related role, or working as part of a marketing team
- 8 years of experience in a creative related role, or working as part of a creative team
- Proven ability to act independently, exercise judgment and influence people to take appropriate actions
- Excellent attention to detail and follow through with communication and a sense of urgency for deadlines
- Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a balance of speed and accuracy with the ability to quickly pivot as needs and priorities change on a continual basis.
- Ability to solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability and desire to work leading up to and during critical holiday marketing days: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to train, mentor and coach associates and new hires
- Ability to motivate others to meet the demands of the department.
- Demonstrate superior knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Prepress techniques
- Demonstration of knowledge or ability to learn remaining Adobe Suite Apps such as InDesign & Illustrator
