Job Summary
Mechanic is to perform all tasks assigned to them by the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely, productive manner. Mechanic must be able to maintain production and quality by ensuring proper operation of all mechanical equipment. These tasks will include but not be limited to lifting and carrying, cleaning, changing filters, oils, lubricating machinery, troubleshooting & repairing machinery, taking oil samples, filling out paperwork as required to completed tasks, ordering parts utilizing requisition forms and assisting with planning repairs in order to keep machinery ready for production work on all projects. Mechanic must be willing to possess tools, work after hours during extended periods of time, nights and weekends in order to complete either planned or breakdown repairs on schedule.
Summary of essential job functions
· Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, pumps, hydraulic systems and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s repair manuals, parts manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments including volt/ohm meters & pressure gauges.
· Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
· Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
· Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
· Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
· Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
· Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
· Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
· Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
· Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Abilities
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Have the ability to continue to learn & grow working in an expanding environment utilizing electronic control systems.
5 years minimum work experience
Ability to safely improvise, adapt to adverse situations and react clearly and quickly to changes in job scope and detail
Must be able to adhere to all manufacturers’ acceptable repair procedures
Must be willing to comply with company, USCG, OSHA & Customer minimum safety standards
Physical Requirements
Ability to work extended periods of time safely
Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and maintain schedule for equipment reliability and operations
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds at a distance of 150 feet throughout the course of an extended work day
Ability to safely walk over rough surfaces, climb & descend ladders, stay seated for extended periods of time and enter and work in confined spaces
