Responsibilities:THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a researcher in the area of CPU architecture with the expertise in physical synthesis to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for both Hardware and Software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about Technology. A successful candidate will need to employ strong knowledge in computer technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and engineering expertise as well as a strong ability to compete effectively in a fast-paced, relevant environment while working with different teams of engineers and collaborators.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take part in developing novel techniques and architectures to improve efficiency of future CPUs.
- Demonstrate integration feasibility of the solutions by physically synthesizing the prototype solutions.
- Propose and evaluate ideas through a rigorous methodology.
- Identify impact of the solutions to existing software and hardware components
- Interact with all stake holders toward successful integration of the solution into future CPUs
- Develop and drive execution of comprehensive, highly effective software for sophisticated new technology and new product introduction projects.
- Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them.
- Help contribute to the design and implementation of future SoC architecture for a highly scalable, durable, and innovative system.
- Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Working experience with physical synthesis is required.
- Exceptional knowledge of CPU micro architecture and cache hierarchy is highly desired.
- Familiarity of and previous experience in an open-source simulator, such as Gem5 is highly desired.
- Prior research/project experience to improve CPU efficiency through micro architecture changes is required.
- Prior experience working with compiler is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of HDL (Verilog, System Verilog) is required.
- Knowledge of Linux kernel is desirable.
- Prior research/project about interaction between kernel and CPU is beneficial.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- PhD in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline preferred or;
- Masters in above and related fields with a few years of industry experience preferred

Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
