The Sitka Trial Court of the Alaska Court System is recruiting for a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12).
Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement.
The Position
This position will manage criminal case files and serve as a back-up in-court clerk. Criminal case management duties will include receiving complaints, citations, and indictments, setting up case files, entering computer data, and issuing process in the form of summons, warrants, and orders to show cause. You will receive confidential pre-sentence reports from adult probation, prepare and distribute criminal judgments and attorney fee judgments, issue and file writs of execution to the Attorney General's Office and City of Sitka. This position will review pending criminal cases report on a monthly basis and ensure cases are closed properly.
Courtroom Judicial Assistant duties will include preparing courtrooms for hearings, testing equipment for compliance, monitoring, and adjusting to maximize sound recording. You will be responsible for ensuring that case files are available and complete, court hearings are on time, keeping accurate log notes, receiving and marking exhibits, and scheduling future hearing dates with judicial officer and parties. This position will draw juror names, manage jury in absence of bailiff, complete and distribute paperwork as necessary. The incumbent may need to run hearings by Zoom. These hearings may be held in a hybrid form, with parties appearing both remotely and in-person or held in a fully remote form, with all parties appearing remotely.
Additionally, this position will greet customers, answer inquiries, provide court forms and direct customers to additional resources. You will receive new civil, criminal, probate and juvenile files, verify their completeness and accept fees as appropriate. Other duties will include accepting fines, restitution payments, bail and other revenue and trust, issuing computerized receipts, assisting civil/jury clerk when requested, duplicating CD's and performing microfilm copies as requested.
The Work Environment
Sitka, accessible only by air or sea, is located in the heart of the Tongass National Forest. The Sitka Courthouse is located on Lake Street surrounded by majestic views from Sitka's location on the outer coast of Alaska's Inside Passage.
The Work Hours
This position works in-person at the Sitka court and is not a remote position.
Full-time court employees are scheduled to work 37.5-hours per week. The work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
