The Kenai Trial Court of the Alaska Court System is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 1 (salary range 10). This position will perform case processing duties and serve as a primary contact with the public.
* Employees working in this job classification will promote to salary range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court. *
The Position
You will act as one of the primary contacts the public has with the court, responding to a large variety of questions by phone and in person. In this role, you will maintain all aspects of court filings including screening, file-stamping, and ensuring compliance for incoming documents, setting up case files, and entering data into the case management system. You will calendar dates for future hearings, notify parties, result hearings, and complete and distribute judgments or orders as necessary. This position is also responsible for setting up and maintaining jury data.
Additional duties will include generating receipts for funds received, balancing and closing cash drawers, processing daily deposit information, processing writs of execution, maintaining spreadsheets for same, calculating interest, payments, current balances of judgments, and preparing disbursement requests to Trial Court Accounting.
Occasionally, you may serve as a courtroom judicial assistant for judicial officers conducting hearings. This will include setting up the courtroom and recording equipment, ensuring an accurate record is made of the proceedings, keeping complete and thorough log notes of proceedings, swearing in witnesses and jurors, and marking and maintaining exhibits.
This position will be cross-trained to act as back-up for other desk duties within the Kenai Court.
This position is assigned to the court's classified service; the incumbent will attain regular status after completion of the initial probationary period.
The Work Environment
Our court is located on Trading Bay Drive on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. The office staff includes eleven Court Case Managers 1 and six Courtroom Judicial Assistants helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.
Work Schedule
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
