About the internship
W. W. Norton is looking for interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. Our internship program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing that includes educational lunch sessions and networking within the intern class. Your work if you become a Norton intern with the Countryman team may include the following:
- Reviewing proposals to find potential books that would fit in the press’s list
- Proofreading early passes of our titles for accuracy and fine-tuning details
- Organizing manuscripts and selecting art for media-heavy books
- Drafting copy and working with editors to hone writing skills
- Drafting press releases and executing publicity mailings
- Media research
- Coordinating marketing mailings to booksellers and influencers
- Assisting in creating and building contact lists for outreach to key markets, influencers and brands for select titles
- Assisting in social media management across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, including asset building for select books and coordinating sponsored campaigns

- You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Internship details
- Interns are paid $16 per hour, subject to applicable law, and work a maximum of 20 hours weekly.
- Internship period is twelve weeks from 2/3/25 - 4/25/25.
- Our workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern’s schedule.
- This internship will be in-person in our Manhattan offices.
- Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
