This Counselor reports to the Counseling and Student Support Manager and
is responsible for providing crisis and short-term mental health
counseling and assisting with wellness programming for students. This
counselor will work closely with the part- time Counselors, full-time
Counseling team, and Peer Support Leaders in planning and implementing
college mental health programming.
Provide crisis and short-term counseling, case management, disability,
and mental health support for students.
Provide referrals to community and professional agencies.
Participate in planning and implementation of college mental health
events.
Provide support for campus wellness rooms, including student intake and
program facilitation.
Travel to extension campuses at Plano and Fox Valley to provide
counseling and wellness programming, as needed.
Maintain case notes and submit appropriate paperwork to align with
campus intervention protocol and Mental Health Early Action on Campus
legislative mandates.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Counseling and Student Support
Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related
field.
Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker minimum
requirement (or equivalent)
Experience working in a college/higher education setting.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities and related
agencies/organizations.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Experience with and commitment to serving diverse populations.
Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.
Prior experience working in a higher education setting.
