About the Job
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated legal professional to join our team as a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will play a key part in preparing, reviewing, and signing legal filings, representing clients in court, and advising private counsel on complex cases. With a strong focus on compliance and litigation management, you will be the go-to expert for legal guidance and strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and sign legal filings and court documents.
- Attend and represent the client in assigned judicial hearings.
- Communicate and advise private counsel on cases.
- Communicate with project staff regarding legal questions, opinions and interpretations.
- Act as an adviser on legal issues involving compliance.
- Review legal data and advise on appropriate legal action to be taken.
- Coordinate litigation and other legal matters handled by outside counsel.
Minimum Requirements
PhD or Juris Doctorate required
7-10 years of related experience
Active Law License in good standing in the state of employment.
Additional Minimum Requirements:
- Current admission to the Kansas State BAR.
- 3 years of experience with child support cases.
- Must have a Juris Doctorate degree

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
