Job Summary
We are seeking a collaborative, creative, business-minded attorney to join our dynamic team in the Legal Department’s Product, Technology and Operations Group. This role will report to the Deputy General Counsel and will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and strategic legal advice to Comcast businesses with particular focus on an emerging energy-related business, including related sales of regulated products and services. Position responsibilities include negotiating a variety of commercial agreements and advising on a wide range of issues, including procurement, sales, compliance, infrastructure, marketing, and state and federal regulations. Experience working with heavily regulated industries a plus. Ability to operate independently and think creatively to support internal clients and business goals is essential. Core Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and support to energy-related business unit and product team within Comcast, as well as others as may be required. Counsel on a broad range of legal issues related to assigned areas, including sales of regulated products and services.
- Knowledge and familiarity with residential sales practices and state and federally regulated industries, such as energy, solar, low voltage, or security, a plus.
- Work with Compliance Department to stand up in-house compliance functions for new and existing businesses.
- Advise business on consumer communications, sales and marketing.
- Quickly adapt and learn new areas of the law to keep pace with a business that grows and changes rapidly.
- Provide leadership and/or expertise in one or more legal specialties and disseminate information on trends and innovations within practice areas. Ability to communicate and advise executives within legal and business departments. Provide training to business colleagues and members of the legal department as appropriate.
- Engage and direct outside counsel to undertake specific and complex work requiring the application of highly specialized legal knowledge.
- Oversee the completion of projects by planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work; evaluating results, etc.
- Lead and provide guidance to legal professionals, including Paralegals, Contract Specialists and administrative staff, as required.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Experience Required:
- At least 4-6 years combined legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Juris Doctor (JD).
- Member in good standing of PA state bar, or with ability to obtain full or limited in-house license in PA.
- Demonstrated transactional experience, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating procurement contract terms and agreements and consumer-facing agreements.
- Ability to identify key areas for process improvement and creating efficiencies through documentation.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent drafting, negotiating, problem solving, and communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues, management, and operations personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality results.
- Self-motivated and independent, but able to discern when matters should be escalated and when further guidance is needed.
- Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance and formulate creative solutions to accomplish the company’s objectives.
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
- Sound judgment, strong work ethic, excellent problem solving and organization skills, practicality, a focus on business outcomes and flexibility to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
- Ability to travel if and when necessary.
