Cost Segregation Engineer
Location: Remote (HQ in NJ)
We are partnering with a highly respected organization specializing in cost segregation studies. With over 100 years of combined industry experience and 9,870 studies completed, they are leaders in the field. The company is seeking a Cost Segregation Engineer to join their growing team. In this role, you will conduct on-site fixed asset analyses to identify assets eligible for accelerated depreciation, review construction blueprints and financial records, and prepare detailed engineering reports. This position is ideal for a motivated professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate accelerated tax depreciation studies.
- Conduct on-site field inspections nationwide to analyze fixed assets.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, including:
- Cost Segregation Analyses
- Cost Allocation Studies
- Benefit Estimates for potential projects
- Analyze construction data, design documents, and blueprints to classify assets appropriately.
- Collaborate with clients and internal staff to ensure smooth project workflows.
- Train and mentor entry-level engineers and administrative staff.
- Implement strategies to streamline engineering processes.
- Perform feasibility analyses to assess potential benefits of cost segregation studies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 3 years of direct experience in cost segregation engineering.
- Experience with RS Means Cost Estimator.
- Proven ability to work on various property types, including multifamily, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects.
- Property Types Experience: Multifamily, Office and Medical Office, Retail, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Industrial/Warehouse, Mixed-Use Developments, Self-Storage Facilities
- Certified Member (CCSP) of ASCSP preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and tax laws for property classifications.
- Proficiency in engineering systems and IRS-compliant reporting practices.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel up for on-site inspections.
