We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and motivated Cost Estimator to join our dynamic team for a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimation for engineering and construction projects and will play a key role in ensuring the financial success of projects through accurate and strategic cost forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Analysis & Estimation:
- Identify key factors affecting project costs, such as production time, material costs, labor, and other direct or indirect expenses.
- Review and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and project specifications to prepare accurate and reliable cost estimates.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to gather essential data and ensure comprehensive and accurate estimates.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with project teams, including engineers, architects, and sales teams, to prepare competitive bids and estimates for clients.
- Maintain clear and open communication with all stakeholders to align on project requirements, expectations, and budget constraints.
- Cost Optimization:
- Analyze and adjust initial estimates throughout the project lifecycle, identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety.
- Recommend cost-saving measures, including alternative materials or construction methods, to optimize the project budget.
- Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of estimated versus actual costs, tracking discrepancies and providing insight for future project planning.
- Generate regular cost reports and updates for project managers and senior leadership, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Bid Preparation:
- Assist the sales team in preparing detailed estimates and competitive bids, ensuring all client requirements are met and financial projections are realistic.
- Review and evaluate potential risks associated with project bids and recommend adjustments as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience:
- Junior Level (0-5 years): Up to 5 years of experience in cost estimation, with a focus on engineering and construction projects.
- Mid-Level (5-10 years): 5 to 10 years of experience in cost estimation, with a proven track record in preparing estimates for complex construction or engineering projects.
- Senior Level (15+ years): 15+ years of extensive experience in cost estimation, with expertise in managing estimation processes for large-scale and high-profile projects.
- Certifications:
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCE) or other relevant certifications are preferred.
- Industry Experience:
- Proven experience in estimating for both engineering and construction projects is required.
- Aviation industry experience is a plus, particularly for candidates applying for more senior roles.
Compensation:
$87k-177k
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
