Job Details
As our Cost Accountant, you will be a critical member of the finance team, responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs and related reporting. This role is vital to our company's success, as it provides key insights into our financial health and informs strategic decision-making. You will work closely with the operations & manufacturing teams to ensure accurate costing and to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned cost accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is passionate about contributing to the company's growth and profitability.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
2. Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings by studying raw materials, labor, and overhead costs.
3. Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
4. Compile cost reports and revenue and balance sheets.
5. Analyze the cost of goods sold (COGS) and prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
6. Analyze inventory valuation and perform inventory roll-forward.
7. Assist in month-end close of the General Ledger, including work order variance, scrap, and rework.
8. Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
9. Review and analyze actual labor, material, and overhead cost against the budget, and research and explain variances.
10. Assist in the development and implementation of new costing methods or cost-cutting strategies.
11. Collaborate with the operations team to optimize inventory and supply chain strategies.
12. Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Experience using financial data to drive insights that optimize inventory, & profitability while reducing work order variance, scrap, and rework.
5. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
6. Experience with Cost of Goods reporting (COGS)
