Cost Accountant - CareSTL Health

CareSTL Health is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to Maintain or reduce financial waste and increase profits, by determining actual costs of providing healthcare services, scrutinizing associated company expenses, analyzing profitability, and preparing the company budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Cost Accountant may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.

• Prepare annual cost reports for Medicaid and Medicare.
• Collaborate with the General Ledger Accountant to complete month-end close.
• Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files and records, price lists, and the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders, locate suppliers, monitor subcontractor performance, calculate the cost of orders, ensure invoices are charged to the appropriate accounts, and monitor inventory transfer forms for bookkeeping records.
• Review journal entries carefully for anomalies and other inconsistencies.
• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly accounting reports for submission to management.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Assist the Director of Accounting by suggesting changes to policies or procedures to increase cash flow.
• Manage the procurement process.
• Establish procurement strategies for acquiring, receiving, and tracking project materials that optimize quality, cost, and timely delivery criteria.
• Support CFO and Director of Accounting with special projects and workflow process improvements.
• Backup Support to Accounts Payable and Payroll positions.
• All other duties assigned by CFO and Director of Accounting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Master's Degree preferred but not required in Accounting or in a related field

Experience:

• 3 - 5 years of experience in general accounting or cost accounting. Must have experience in maintaining the general ledger, cost analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
