Cost Accountant - Solve IT Strategies, Inc.

Solve IT Strategies is looking for a Cost Accountant. This role is located at Seattle WA 98168. Onsite

The Main Responsibilities of a person are:

• Reviews work order transactions to identify costing errors. Root Cause Analysis.
• Analyzes cost variance analysis and compares actual to system standards for both material and labor.
• Assists operations with ad hoc analysis on special projects.
• Assists with month-end and year-end inventories.
• Validate accuracy of the inventory balances at the item and transaction level.
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual job profit margins.
• Maintains the Work in Process ledger.
• Performs month-end and year-end closings including journal entries and reconciliations. Inventory subledger to GL reconciliation and roll-forward by branch.
• Provides product costing for pricing and business decisions. Cost budget – working with branch managers and define detailed material, labor and overhead.
• Project cost control, Cashflow analysis, Contract / PO reconciliation.
• Determines current cost of projects by confirming project budgets with project leadership, establishing standard reconciliation process, collecting contract and invoice data, and verifying progress and completion status of project.
• Establish and maintain project budget tracking systems.
• Reconciles transactions by project and correcting data.
• Tracks and reports on status of project completion progress through monthly reporting, including actual cost, forecast costs, cash flow, variances, and gaps.
• Inventory subledger to GL reconciliation and roll-forward by branch.
• Weekly job/work-ticket/WIP profitability reviews and reconciliations – variance analysis budget vs actual by jobs.
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count programs.
• Calculate slow moving and obsolescence reserve to be reviewed by the controller.
• Stock reconciliations and co-ordination of stock. BVS branches do not use Sage to check if other branches have the parts needed for the job prior buying parts.
• PSV certification inventory by warehouse.
• Assist with annual audits.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations with GAAP experience required.
• High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
• Must demonstrate ability to meet financial deadlines.
• Must be proficient in utilizing and interpreting financial models and analyses.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, results oriented environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert Microsoft Office skills to include Excel and related computer applications.
