We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cost Accountant to join our growing finance team. This is a unique opportunity to bring your specialized skill set to a forward-thinking company that values innovation, creativity, and results. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The role demands a high level of expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and financial planning within the manufacturing sector.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all phases of cost accounting to include inventory valuation, analysis of manufacturing costs, and result analyses.
2. Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by product by customer type.
3. Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
4. Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development such as production, purchasing, import/export, accounts payable, accounts receivable, import/export IT, receiving, shipping, and other.
5. Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories.
6. Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.
7. Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division.
8. Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.
9. Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others.
10. Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 3 years of Accounting in a manufacturing environment.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
3. Would like someone with a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
4. Strong Excel, minimum of Vlookups, Pivot Tables and advanced Formulas.
5. ERP experience and any experience with software conversions a plus!
6. Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
7. Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
8. Exceptional organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
11. Proven experience in Account Reconciliation.
