As a Cost Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing operations, directly impacting our bottom line and influencing strategic decisions. This position is a key part of the financial planning and decision-making process, using analysis of the costs of raw materials, labor, and overhead to guide profitable operations. You will be responsible for establishing and managing our standard costing process, reconciling inventory accounts, and generating margin reports. Your analysis will help us understand the financial implications of product design and raw material choices, and your insights will guide our operational and strategic decisions.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain the standard costing process.
2. Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger.
3. Prepare margin reports for management.
4. Analyze product design and raw material costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
5. Perform account analysis to identify and correct any discrepancies.
6. Compare standard costs to actual production costs and report variances.
7. Collaborate with the operations team to streamline processes and improve profitability.
8. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
9. Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
10. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment.
3. Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory reconciliation, and margin analysis.
4. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough understanding of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, and information analysis.
5. Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly in Excel, and familiarity with accounting software.
6. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Outstanding problem-solving and organizational skills.
8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is a plus.
