Are you an experienced cost accountant with a knack for numbers and a passion for the wine industry? We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented cost accountant to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position in our Accounting + Finance department that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our company's financial strategy and growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a manufacturing environment, comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, and a keen understanding of cost of goods sold.
Responsibilities:
As a Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in our financial team. Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
2. Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
3. Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
4. Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
5. Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.
6. Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost.
7. Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability, and utilization.
8. Perform physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
9. Review and analyze cost of goods sold and margins.
10. Prepare, analyze and report monthly gross margins by product type by customer.
11. Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
12. Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development such as production, purchasing, import/export, accounts payable, accounts receivable, import/export, etc.
13. Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must have the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
2. Minimum of 5 years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment.
3. Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
4. Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
5. Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
6. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Must have experience in reporting and cost of goods sold.
9. Experience in the wine industry is a plus.
