Job Summary: We are looking for a Cost Analyst to join our Finance department. Main responsibilities are performing, inventory, job cost, and profitability analyses.
As a Cost Analyst, you will collaborate with the financial staff to provide accurate and timely financial information to management. You will also assist in developing and implementing cost-effective solutions to improve the profitability and efficiency of our company.
To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 2-5 years of experience in a cost analyst, financial analyst, or accountant role. You should also have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of accounting software and principles.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collect and analyse data on operational costs and revenues.
- Prepare and maintain cost accounting records and reports.
- Review and verify the accuracy of Raw Material, WIP, and Finished Goods.
- Project analysis including EAC review, WIP Reserves, NRV Loss, Margin Analysis, Cost Analysis and Cost Exception review.
- Oversee Cycle Counts and collaborate with Inventory Control / Operations.
- Posting and review of customer invoicing.
- Prepare, review, and analyze the quarterly inventory E&O process and liaison with Operations.
- Perform profit and cost variance analysis and identify the causes of discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing and auditing processes.
- Assist in the month-end close process including report generation, review and analysis, journal entries and reconciliations.
- Recommend and implement cost-saving measures, KPIs, and process improvements.
- Monitor and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Other related duties and special projects as determined by management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in cost analyst or similar role.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting standards.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of Government cost accounting standards (CAS) and/or IFRS, a plus.
- Proficient in accounting software. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics D365 a plus.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, especially in using formulas, functions, and pivot tables. Cognos and Power BI experience a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
