Duties of the Cost Accountant
- Manage inventory costing and project costing
- Run costing and inventory reports along with direct labor, direct materials and overhead from GL systems and other sources
- Lead reporting, planning, and analysis of standard product costing. Make updates to standards when appropriate.
- Collaborate across multi-department teams and provide cost accounting support and reconcile any cost and inventory issues.
- Provide financial analysis and insights into critical value drivers of the business
- Work closely with Controller and key stakeholders to optimize internal controls, accounting processes, automation and reporting
- Analyze variances in inventory reconciliations, and cost of good sold for accuracy and reasonableness
- Research and report reasons for variances including review of PPV, revaluation, repairs, and scrap.
- Analyze and explore opportunities to reduce cost and drive efficiencies
Qualifications for the Cost Accountant:
- Minimum 3 years experience in accounting or finance
- Accounting Degree
- Analytical thinker who enjoys working with operations
- Experience with advanced ERP accounting software, larger ERP system experience highly desirable.
- Advanced Excel skills and an attention to detail required.
