About the Job
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management, English/Literature, International Development, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting on a year for year basis.
Experience writing successful six figure or greater grant proposals for private and corporate foundations.
Preferred:
Knowledge of or experience working in global health programming.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in grant writing, foundations, and nonprofit fundraising.
Technical and creative writing and editing experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge:
Understand Medical Teams’ organizational strategies and its role in the global health and humanitarian response sector.
Knowledge of grant writing principles and methods for developing foundation relationships, locally and nationally.
Knowledge of successful fundraising strategies.
Knowledge of current trends in foundation and donor interests.
Familiarity with Salesforce or similar database.
Skills:
Clearly demonstrate and apply computer/technology skills to enhance the fundraising process and maximize productivity.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, and attention to detail to produce quality products.
Excellent organization, time-management, planning, strategizing, collaboration, and administrative skills.
Strong project management skills.
Strong research skills to identify, evaluate, and strategize approaches for new funding prospects.
Professionally mature, strong judgement skills, self-motivated, and takes responsibility for actions.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Maintain confidentiality of donor information
Display continual organized drive to achieve goals, showing responsibility for self-management.
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Medical Teams’ international and U.S.-based programs and participate in relevant program meetings.
Maintain a “can-do” attitude and explore alternative solutions to meet funder needs when challenges arise.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others, including across distances, cultures, and time zones.
Ability to work efficiently, with accuracy.
Capacity to remain calm under pressure and tight deadlines, specifically when the organization is responding to a crisis.

Ability to travel occasionally within the US.
