About the Job
The Corporate Information Technology Department is currently seeking a Director of Development to manage the ongoing development and modernization of a mission critical applications. The applications have integrations with various production and reporting systems. Ideal candidates should have experience working in an agile team environment with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and a broad understanding of the Microsoft stack with a number of areas of good depth and experience along with the ability to partner with product owners to ensure a balance of deliverables for both new functionality and reducing tech debt.

EDUCATION
A Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Computer Science or Engineering is required, a master's degree would be preferred. Work experience may be substituted
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, guide and direct all architecture, development, quality assurance (QA), application security and release activities on our products currently in use.
- Serve as a process leader and mentor for all team members.
- Work closely with Product teams, ensure that both functional and non-functional requirements are correctly prioritized and delivered on time and budget.
- Create opportunities for teams to reduce technical debt, increase code coverage and quality throughout the software lifecycle.
- Hire, nurture, and retain strong technical talent across all teams.
- Ensure that all engineering efforts follow organizational policies, procedures and industry best practices.
- Participate in the development cycle design, scoping, planning, developing, implementation, test, and incident support
- Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review
- Resolve high impact problems
- Ensure application performance, quality and responsiveness
- Improve team development related processes that accelerate delivery, drive innovation, lower costs, and improve quality
- Manage both local, remote and offshore employees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 6-10 years of relevant experience in application development
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Solid understanding and experience with the current Microsoft stack
- Good understanding of architecture, database design, manipulation and query design
- Experience working with audit and compliance groups (SOC2 controls a plus)
- Supports and facilitates team interactions with an eye to continuous improvement
- Agile/Scrum or Devops experience
- Experience with version control systems and branching strategies (Git experience a plus)
- Experience in managing and implementing successful projects and ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
- Exposure to test driven development, unit testing, and test automation
- Quick learner, self-starter with strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Prior experience in banking and financial services a plus
- Experience with Cloud Technologies (MS Azure preferred)
