The Corporate Controller has the responsibility of partnering with the CFO in managing the general accounting and finance functions in support of overall business objectives including accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial transactions and development and implementation of controls and procedures for processing all accounting related transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the monthly financial statement close process including review of other team member’s journal entries, review of month-end trial balance and financial statements and preparation of month-end reports for distribution to the management team.
- Monitoring closing processes, billing, invoicing, expenses, reimbursements, and payroll administration.
- Preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statement reporting packages for lending institutions.
- Indirect oversight for MSG factories including monitoring of work orders, review of inventory adjustments, monitoring of cycle count programs, review and analysis of manufacturing expenses and review and analysis of operational metrics.
- Provide leadership for key accounting topics:
- Lead the tracking of capital expenditures inclusive of routing of project approval, spend tracking and reporting, project closure, updating of FAS software and preparation of monthly PPE reconciliations to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Management of the financial accounting for all leases including providing guidance into lease/buy decisions for capital expenditures. Ownership of the financial tracking and proper accounting of the Company’s commodity hedging strategies.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting guidance and provide accounting guidance for unique situations.
- Performing internal audits and financial risk assessments, as well as facilitating intervention strategies.
- Ownership of daily cash management and providing insight into intermediate and long-term cash forecasting.
- Provide oversight and leadership for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes. Provide controls, customer service and process improvement leadership.
- Oversee and the processes surrounding Taxes (both income and non-income), insurance and compliance.
- Responsible for leading all audit processes within the company. This is inclusive of coordination and preparation of schedules for the year-end financial statement audit, collaborating with the audit teams .
- Help improve the identification, implementation, training and documentation of key internal controls within the business.
- Provide guidance and insight to support the overall business that helps management make better overall business decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years’ of relevant experience. Experience in accounting for a manufacturing business in addition to experience as an auditor for a mid-large public accounting firm would be preferred.
- Experience with financial statement review/preparation, strong understanding of GAAP, experience in auditing or working with companies in the manufacturing space.
- Experience leading teams and managing direct reports is important. Additionally, this individual must be a strong communicator as they will represent the company to various external parties.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience using ERP systems.
- Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Accounting, Masters degree is a plus
