This position is responsible for overseeing financial accounting processes and serving as a key partner to the Corporate Controller. Responsibilities include ensuring financial results are reported in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies. The role focuses on developing and maintaining accounting policies and controls, while ensuring adherence across the organization. Job Details
This position is responsible for overseeing financial accounting processes and serving as a key partner to the Corporate Controller. Responsibilities include ensuring financial results are reported in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies. The role focuses on developing and maintaining accounting policies and controls, while ensuring adherence across the organization. This position also collaborates with various departments, including Operations, IT, HR, and others, and serves as the primary point of contact for external service providers, such as auditors and tax professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly financial statement process and ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Recruit, train, and lead accounting teams, fostering professional development and growth.
- Ensure the integrity of financial results through regular account reconciliations and ledger reviews.
- Act as a subject matter expert in project-based accounting and provide training and oversight for related practices.
- Oversee cost accounting, inventory controls, and intercompany reconciliations across the organization.
- Administer accruals and reporting for employee and management contingent pay plans.
- Address inquiries related to payroll, accounts payable, receivable, or other accounting functions.
- Lead the annual external audit process and ensure compliance with external requirements.
- Develop and maintain cost center and segment-level reporting to support operational goals.
- Partner with business leaders to align financial practices with organizational objectives.
- Maintain expertise in ERP systems and ensure functionality supports accounting needs.
- Collaborate with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) teams on budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes.
Requirements:
- CPA or equivalent credential preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/financial experience, with at least 2 years in a controller role preferred.
- Percent of completion accounting required
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong skills in financial reporting, including advanced Excel capabilities.
- Experience in job costing is preferred
- Background in private equity and consolidation is a plus.
- Proven ability to collaborate with operational and sales leaders to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Experience managing complex accounting systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to develop actionable solutions with minimal direction.
- Strong interpersonal skills to resolve issues and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
